daily obsessions

While drinking my coffee, I came across some pretty cool stuff. Check it out!

1) Kate Spade NY Summer Shoe Guide! There are sparkly heels, multi-colored stilettos and lavishly adorned sandals. My favorite is the Reena!

2) Daily Candy Dallas is just what I’ve been looking for– a site for women based on a major city. Daily Candy‘s (DC) main site features “EVERYWHERE”– AKA 11 major cities in the U.S. which have their own DC sites. And yes, they’ve got the Big D covered!

Similar to my own app search, DC features a wide variety of apps that neither me or my friends have heard of!

Many of the apps are free, and my personal faves from DC’s list are:

1) Deja Vu (free)

(it’s the one with an orange squiggle in the iTunes store)

Take photos instead of typing a memo! Deja Vu allows for visuals to trigger your memories and get yo stuff done!

2) Ness (free)

Ness is an app in search of the perfect restaurant for you! You can narrow your search based on your current location, price range of restaurant, and whether the restaurants are closed or national chains (best part).

3) Tiny Review (free)

Here’s a way for you to add text onto your photos right from your phone! Just like making a meme, this bad boy makes for some serious laughs.

Also, I’ve been curious about this new juice bar/health food lunch spot in Dallas called The Gem, and DC has a great article on it! Be sure to download the Scoutmob app so you can get a 50% discount at The Gem! You can get healthy juice combinations (The Green Glow is apparently awesome) to sip in store or in a to-go cup.

3) Hummamole. Yep, avocado hummus. The author of this Hello Giggles article about healthy afternoon snacking is not only creative in the kitchen, but witty to boot!

Have a rockin’ day,

technology: help!

So, basically, I feel like I’m always behind when it comes to technology. I’ve had my iPod Classic from high school for over 7 years, my phone is the iPhone 3GS, and I just now learned my way around a Mac. You’d think I’m Amish, but no! I’m just really bad with money. The solution to my money woes? Technology.

According to a great article about the top Apps for women, my solution is the Mint.com App. It syncs up with your bank account(s) to let you know your balance, as well as how much of your monthly budget you’ve spent. You can also set a designated budget for Movies, Gas, Alcohol, etc. and Mint will tell you if you’ve gone over budget within each category.

Also, it breaks down your spending to show where your cash flow is going– for example, I’ve already spent $200 on food and dining and it’s only the 16th! Fees and charges are included on this spread as well. Whenever you click on one of the categories, it will give you a break down of where you spent your money and how much you spent there. Scary stuff!

Another fun App is ShopSavvy, which scans the barcode of a product you’re interested in and tells you the best deals on prices, whether online or in stores! Besides scanning, it will tell you all of the current deals in your area. The deals are broken down by store name or category of items and services.

Tired of GroupOn or Living Social? Welcome to Scoutmob, where you don’t pay any fees (like you do on GroupOn) to get a good deal. It filters deals based by neighborhood, and most deals are at least 50% off. Get 50% off a meal $15 or under at Dive Coastal Cuisine in Snider Plaza with Scoutmob!
To work off all of those discounted meals, check out the Women’s Health Magazine Workouts App. It teaches you every training move with weights, as well as timed workouts to target certain areas of your body. This is the perfect App to scroll through at the gym!
These are just a few of the many new Apps I’ve come across. In the mean time, I’m keeping organized with Teux Deux (another great App!)…

KT
